There are two types of quizzes below: (1) multiple choice and (2) free-form answers which require you to be able to input hiragana on your computer. There is no official kanji list for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) examinations (the lists that do exist on the internet are all taken from the pre-2010 examinations before the system changed), but for the N5 test you need to know about 100 and another 200 for the N4 test. As there is no official list, I have used the ordering of the kanji in the book【留学生のための漢字の教科書 初級 300】(“Kanji Textbook for Foreign Students, Beginner Level 300”) as this just so happens to be the book my girlfriend is using to study.
