Crafts museum founded by Soetsu Yanagi in 1936 to display the beauty of arts and crafts in Japan, having first fallen in love with the ceramics of the Joseon Dynasty and established the Korean Folk Art Museum in Seoul in 1924.

The collection totals about 17,000 artifacts with 500 or so on display at any one time. The building itself is quite something—and the main hall was marked as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan in 1999.
