Held biennially at Yoyogi Park, the Laos Festival is a vibrant celebration of the “Land of a Million Elephants.” Established in 2007, the event showcases Lao heritage through traditional music like the Khene and signature dishes like Laap. This relaxed gathering invites visitors to experience the soulful melodies and distinct flavors of Laos in the heart of Tokyo.
The festival was founded by a Japanese enthusiast whose passion for the country began during a 1996 high school homestay. Beyond the aromatic food stalls and Beerlao, the main stage features elegant dances and cultural workshops that highlight the unique history of the region. Yoyogi Park is easily accessible via Harajuku Station (JR Yamanote Line) or Yoyogi-koen Station (Chiyoda Line). Admission to the event grounds is free, making it a popular weekend destination for families and foodies alike.
