The Hachioji Festival is a major event on the Tokyo calendar and attracts visitors from far outside the Hachioji area (attendance is usually over 800,000). The event is held over 3-days in early August and includes performances from geisha, night markets, traditional taiko drummers, a lion dance, and a 19-float procession, among other attractions. Don’t miss the firework event that normally takes place the weekend before!
