CEATEC (“Combined Exhibition of Advanced Technologies”) Japan is a trade show focused on how data will shape our future society. It’s a great place to catch a glimpse of some of the new and quirky concepts that may help shape our lives in the future, and usually gets a good amount of foreign coverage. For example, in 2017 the BBC posted a video article showing their presenter playing (and losing) a game of table tennis against a robot.
The exhibition is divided into five areas: Devices & Software, Home & Lifestyle, Themed (IoT etc.), Community, and Conference where a variety of industry executives make speeches. It runs from 10am to 5pm each day. Entrance is free if you pre-register via the official website beforehand and take your invitation with you; otherwise it is ¥1,000 for adults and ¥500 for students.
