One of the five flower festivals of Bunkyo Ward, the Plum Festival (Ume Matsuri) takes place at Yushima Tenmangu Shrine near the south end of Ueno Park. There are about 300 plum trees in the shrine’s grounds (80% of which are white plum trees) which attract over 400,000 visitors each year over the course of the week. There are also a number of stalls which set up during the festival selling seasonal goods and snacks. The festival runs from 8:00 to 19:30 each day. Entrance is free.
