The Sunshine 60 Observation Deck, officially known as Tenbou-Park, offers a unique “lull” above the frenetic energy of Ikebukuro. Perched 251 meters above sea level on the 60th floor of the Sunshine 60 building, the facility underwent a major renovation to become Tokyo’s first “aerial park.” Unlike traditional, sterile observation decks, Tenbou-Park features indoor greenery, artificial turf, and seasonal scents, creating an environment where visitors can sit on the grass and enjoy a 360-degree panorama of the metropolitan sprawl.

On clear days, the silhouette of Mount Fuji dominates the western horizon, while the glittering clusters of Shinjuku and the soaring needle of the Tokyo Skytree are visible to the south and east. The park is designed to be multi-sensory; by day, it is a bright, family-friendly space with “swing” chairs and a designated area for infants. By night, the atmosphere shifts as the lights dim and ambient music transforms the park into a romantic viewing lounge, perfect for taking in Tokyo’s “million-dollar” night view.

Beyond the views, the facility includes the Tenbou-Park Cafe, which serves original “sky-themed” sweets and light meals that can be enjoyed on the lawn. Whether you are visiting for the “Diamond Fuji” sunset—a rare event where the sun aligns perfectly with the mountain peak—or simply to escape the crowds of the shopping mall below, Tenbou-Park provides a serene, elevated perspective on the world’s largest city.
