Jiyugaoka (自由が丘) is a trendy district in Meguro Ward about a 10-minute train ride from Shibuya. The area is famous for its clothes shops, zakka stores (small shops selling odds and ends), and stylish coffee shops which all give it a more cosmopolitan feel than most other Tokyo neighbourhoods. There is also Kumano Jinja, an 800-year old shrine in the middle of the district, and La Vita to the north of the station. The latter is an Italian piazza replete with a stationary gondola and bridge. It’s not that big, but definitely a must see if visiting the area.
