Also known as the “Meguro Sun Festival”, Meguro’s annual Kumin Matsuri is actually four events rolled into one. The most famous of these is the “Meguro Sanma Matsuri” where over 5,000 fresh sanma (saury) is brought in from sister cities and grilled. Local goods from Kesennuma in Miyagi Prefecture are also on sale, and you can see taiko drumming and other performances on the main stage. The sanma matsuri takes place in Dendo Park, but there are also events at the Meguro Kumin Center on the other side of the river, as well.
