Hanatoro (花灯路, Hanatōro) is a 10-day long illuminations that takes place in Kyoto’s Higashiyama District in March and Arashiyama during December. The event, which translates as “Flower and Light Road”, see thousands of small lanterns displayed in the local area, but the main attraction is the light-up of Togetsukyo Bridge in the Arashiyama District west of the city center. The illuminations start at 5:00pm and last until 8:30pm.
