The Jingu-Gaien Fireworks Festival is one of the few large-scale pyrotechnic events held in central Tokyo, launching approximately 10,000 fireworks above the Shinjuku skyline. Unlike traditional riverside displays, this event serves as a combined concert and fireworks show, featuring major J-pop artists and live musical performances across multiple venues. While the displays are visible from the surrounding streets, official paid seating is primarily focused within the Meiji Jingu Stadium and Chichibunomiya Rugby Stadium. The urban setting provides a unique aesthetic where the fireworks are framed by the dense architecture of the surrounding business districts.

Access is strictly managed via Gaienmae, Sendagaya, and Kokuritsu-Kyogijo stations, with specific one-way pedestrian routes enforced several hours before the first launch. Due to the high concentration of mobile users in the urban stadiums, cellular data and Wi-Fi networks frequently experience significant latency or complete outages during the peak event hours.
