Annual community festival in Koto Ward which is notable for the log rolling event held in Kiba Park. Kiba means, literally, “wood place” in Japanese and the park in fact stands on the grounds of a former lumberyard. Here the workers used to put together rafts by maneuvering the unwieldy logs with just a single hooked pole called a tobiguchi (鳶口). These skills and the craftsmen are remembered through an artful display on top of the water in Kiba Park.
