The Gujyo Odori is one of the three most important Bon Festivals in Japan. The main festival takes place at Gujyo Hachiman, a small town in Gifu Prefecture, in mid August and the dance consists of ten traditional songs with corresponding dances. For those in Tokyo, Aoyama holds a scaled-down version of the dance towards the end of June. The event takes place from 1pm to 8pm on both days with the dance starting at 5pm.
Event details are taken from official sources whenever possible. It is always prudent to check the official event website before attending to make sure that there have not been any changes. If you know of an error in the calendar, then please let me know through the contact form.
