The roots of a bonsai at Omiya Bonsai Art Museum

The world’s first publicly run museum dedicated to bonsai near Saitama’s Omiya Bonsai Village. It was opened in 2010 and is home to approximately 120 bonsai. The museum has a superb interior section which explains the different styles of bonsai, as well as the points that the experts look for in the trees when judging their beauty. Photography is prohibited in most areas of the museum, but there is section outside with 10 or so bonsai where pictures are allowed.
